On December 20, 2024, Phantom Avenue artists Brian Gadoury and Juan Del Pino joined Global News Morning to talk about the studio’s charity gala and art show. The December 28 event put Edmonton artists at the centre of the conversation — and brought tattoo art into the city’s wider creative community.

More Than a Tattoo Studio
Tattooing is a visual art practice, but much of it happens one client and one artist at a time. A public art show changes that perspective. It creates room to see the drawing, painting, composition, and technical decisions behind the finished work — alongside work from other artists in the city.
For Phantom Avenue, pairing an art show with a charity component made the event about more than the studio. It created room for people to gather around local art while keeping community support at the centre of the night.
Brian and Juan on Global News Morning
Brian and Juan represented two sides of the same studio. Brian is Phantom Avenue’s founder and lead artist, known for realism and surrealism. Juan brings bold full colour, Japanese-inspired composition, and a convention record that now includes multiple sourced Tattoo of the Day wins.
You can explore Brian’s work, visit Juan’s portfolio, or see Juan’s documented results on the Awards & Recognition page.
Why Local Art Events Matter
Edmonton’s arts community is strongest when disciplines overlap. Tattoo artists, painters, illustrators, photographers, musicians, and clients do not exist in separate worlds. Events like this create introductions that would not happen during an ordinary appointment and give people a new way to understand tattooing as custom art.
That community-first approach is still part of how Phantom Avenue works on Whyte Avenue. Every tattoo begins with a conversation, every design is created for the person wearing it, and every artist brings a different visual language to the studio.
